Research on Software-based Transportation Infrastructure
It is believed that transportation infrastructure, such as roads and railroads, will evolve in the future not only as civil engineering structures but also as dynamic structures defined and controlled by software. In our laboratory, we are advancing research on the introduction of software technology into transportation infrastructure.
Autonomous Distributed Signal System
We are researching technology for an autonomous distributed signal system that reconstructs traffic signals using IoT technology. This includes incorporating real-time traffic sensing through image recognition and dynamic signal control tailored to each individual vehicle. In addition to verification through simulation, we have installed a prototype at the ITS experimental field on the Kashiwa Campus of the University of Tokyo and are conducting field experiments.
