Visualization and Analysis of Spatiotemporal Information

In the Ito Research Laboratory, we focus on the visualization and analysis of spatiotemporal information such as sensor data, map data, and behavioral history data. As various spatiotemporal data are increasingly gathered in real-time as big data, the importance of technologies to handle them is becoming more significant.

Real-time Visualization of Environmental Monitoring

Using small IoT sensors, we constructed an environmental monitoring system and conducted a demonstration experiment on real-time microclimate monitoring by laying 200 sensors in Shinjuku Gyoen in 2006. This experiment visualized the role of Shinjuku Gyoen in the urban environment.

Interactive Spatiotemporal Data Analysis System

We have developed the mPATH framework, which enables dynamic analysis and visualization of spatiotemporal data through visual programming. This framework is used for analyzing behavioral history data, among other things. It intuitively and interactively performs operations such as overlaying and extracting data using time and space as key elements. It functions as a platform for visualizing and sharing complex data manipulation processes.
