Education
Advanced Traffic Informatics
2023 Academic Year: Offered in Wednesdays’ 2nd period during S1/S2 term.
Plans to offer almost the same content in the 2024 academic year.
In this lecture, we will overview advanced transportation technologies integrated with information technology, and acquire skills necessary for traffic data analysis, traffic simulation, and construction of transportation guidance services. Fields such as traffic engineering, which aims for safe and smooth road traffic, and transportation planning, which designs optimal transportation according to demand, are becoming more convenient and efficient through the fusion with modern information technologies that handle vast amounts of data. In this lecture, we will introduce the latest examples and research results in collecting, visualizing, and analyzing transportation data, and applying them to social systems. Students will also gain hands-on experience with programming and data analysis tools using actual traffic data.
